STRAWBERRIES
The red berries are 90% water and still taste like pure summer. So it's no wonder that strawberries are the absolute favorites of both small and large berry fans. Because the sweet fruits are relatively sensitive, it is best to clean them briefly in a water bath and store them in the refrigerator. Pureed to a fruit puree, they can also be wonderfully frozen and stirred into cereal.
Strawberry Season: June to September
Nutrients: Strawberries support your immune system with a high vitamin C content and also contain cancer-preventing phytochemicals. Folic acid, iron, magnesium, and potassium can also be found in the popular fruit.
This is the best way to enjoy them: neat, with honey or agave syrup, to cool Greek yogurt, freshly cut into a crunchy, as a splash of color in a layered cereal, mixed with icing, and in a cereal shake.

RASPBERRIES
The queen of berries is one of the rose plants and is best eaten fresh from the bush or from the pack without long hesitation. You won't be able to resist her delicate fragrance for long anyway. Raspberries are very sensitive to pressure and are best cleaned in standing water and then gently dabbed off.
Raspberry Season: June to October
Nutrients: Raspberries are rich in vitamins A, B & C as well as calcium and iron. The many small seeds also support your digestion. The antioxidants contained in them help to detoxify the body and are intended to protect against skin aging.
This is the best way to enjoy them: with chia pudding, mixed with buttermilk, added to vanilla ice cream, in the pot cream, stirred into the porridge, with natural yoghurt, to your overnight oats .

Blueberry, blueberry or cranberry?
BLUEBERRIES
The tannin-rich blue-black berries have already been appreciated by Hildegard von Bingen for their healthy effect on digestion. If you don't want to go blueberry hunting in forest clearings yourself, simply look for the fruit stand of your trust instead. There, the juicy blueberry is often also found under the name cranberry. In Tyrol, cranberry cakes are a traditional and very popular summer pastry. In Germany, by the way, blueberries are called blueberries!
Blueberry season: July to mid-September
Nutrients: The coloring anthocyanins found in blueberries can help prevent skin aging. They are also supported by vitamins C & E. The tannins are also good for digestion.

BLACKBERRIES
Dark purple and shiny, the blackberry stands out from its red and rosy berry relatives. And it is also unique in terms of taste. Incidentally, the wild blackberry is quite stubborn and difficult to get rid of once you have it in the garden.

CURRANTS
The currant has many names and colors. It is also known as ribisel and comes in the colors red, black, or white. Her fans especially appreciate the tart acidity of the berry, which makes her the perfect partner for sweets and desserts. Nutrients: Blackcurrants contain three times as much vitamin C as the same amount of lemons. Like many other berries, they are rich in antioxidants, which is why they are said to have an anti-aging effect and good properties in terms of protecting the cells.
